The Virtual Run

The Beyond Barriers Virtual Run '24 is an essential fundraiser for Run Beyond and will enable us to deliver the program to more students in more schools beyond 2024.

Each year we have to turn away schools that apply because of insufficient funds. Each year we grow - from 17 schools in 2023 to 27 schools in 2024 - but only with the help of our supporters!

From September 22 to October 13, individually, or as a team, go beyond your comfort zone to empower young people facing challenges!

Run Beyond is 100% volunteer based. We train teachers to implement the project in their own schools, empowering students from a range of backgrounds including refugees, indigenous students, students in out of home care, students impacted by discrimination, domestic violence, long-term parental unemployment, and lack of educational opportunities.

These students opt to go beyond their comfort zone to take on the Run Beyond Challenge – training for a challenging but achievable Goal Race and completing a theoretical curriculum designed to give them the confidence and capabilities to not only get to the finish line of their Goal Race, but thrive beyond it. We have a particular focus on Goal-Setting, Commitment and Resilience as well engaged citizenship.

Beyond Barriers Virtual Run

Gather your friends for a huge and rewarding challenge - 876kms!

Starting in Albert Park, the location of one of our major Goal Race partners - Run Prix, on September 22, and finishing in Parramatta, the location of another major Goal Race partner - 3 Bridges Run, this years virtual run will see you and your team cover 876kms!

Can you and your tribe make the distance? Doing so will not only help provide funds for Run Beyond’s continued implementation in 27 schools, but also for the many on our waitlist.

Virtual Run, Real Impact

Your Virtual Run will make a real difference to these students and our community.

Empower students by supporting their journey to the startline of their Goal Race. Funds raised cover the costs of teacher training, student shoes and apparel, race entries, and race-related transport and accommodation.

Inclusion is another important part of Run Beyond, which your support builds. We support the inclusion of students who otherwise would have very limited opportunities to be part of the running community. Your run will support a program that gives a more diverse range of people the confidence and capabilities to toe the startline at real races – to feel like they belong, to feel like a valued part of the community, and to feel that they can contribute.
