I'm fundraising for The Run Beyond Project.

A charity close to my heart, The Run Beyond Project empowers students by asking them to go beyond their comfort zone. These students aren't runners. They're high school students from a variety of circumstances who commit to undertaking this program in order to develop personal and social capabilities that see them not only get to the finish line of their Goal Race, but thrive beyond this, personally and as contributing members to their communities. They are young people who have had the same opportunities as you and I.

Run Beyond has graduated over 400 students so far, including 90 indigenous students, 47 students from refugee backgrounds, and 19 who have been in out-of-home care, as well as students impacted by numerous other factors such as exposure to discrimination and long-term parental unemployment.

I'm participating in The Beyond Barriers Virtual Run and going beyond my limits to empower these students in need! Any donation you can give, large of small, will have a huge impact on the lives of these young people.

Made it!

Sunday 13th Oct
When I worked out how much I’d have to run to cover the whole distance of 876km- I knew it was possible-but wasn’t sure I wanted to do it as a knew how tough 21 marathons in 21 days was - and I was fitter when I did that. It seemed even more unlikely after getting hamstring tendinitis at the end of day one; I took day 2 off as I couldn’t walk properly. Something clicked in me, though, and I was determined to keep moving and heal up as I went and keep going with the challenge. The hardest virtual challenge Ive done to date, exceeding expectations and personal weekly volume last week. Glad my shoes made it through, and that I’m not broken. 😊 When you are doing a fundraiser the focus is on the cause I guess, so if I felt I had to keep going.

Hot today!!

Enjoying the competition and good fun to see that the competition/ encouragement is two way. It’s been pretty much a two horse race for a while and it’s hitting up into the final week! Nice work JM RD

Amazing effort to hit 1000km solo, and loved the FB updates on supporting the cause and following along! Time for some rest now.

Thank you for being one of the hardest competitors in this competition to date, in the past three years including 2022 and 2023 when I accumulated the highest individual distance run over 22 days… Thanks for sharing part of your running data which shows you made up on a good amount of mileage especially on day 21 and 22, but as per documentation you were still on 967km at 2244 (1044pm) on day 22. In the remaining minutes to midnight (end of competition) you managed to make up the gap you were trailing (23km) then put an extra 100km totalling 1100km. So I had every right to respectfully ask the committee to review the run data, which they did so and I was informed of the findings. That effort was amazing! Huge congrats! I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

G’day Steve! Congrats on your efforts in reaching and surpassing 1000km. Thanking so much for pacing and competing me so that I could be the first to surpass this milestone. Great effort in completing those extra 100km whilst I was racing at the Melbourne Marathon! Whatever you have said to me, positive or otherwise, has helped fuel me to BEYOND BORDERS of my running journey and I look forward to challenge the limits of my future running abilities.
